Dozens crowd Dutch Central Bank to turn in old 100 guilder notes

A few dozen people visited the Dutch central bank DNB on Monday to exchange their 100 guilder notes with a portrait of Michiel de Ruyter on for euros. Monday was the last day this note could be exchanged. All in all the bank received about a hundred Michiel de Ruyter 100 guilder notes on Monday, a spokesperson for the DNB said to news wire ANP. According to him, the last possible day to exchange the note was quite a bit busier than the days preceding it, when the bank received about 20 to 30 guilder notes a day. The guilder notes with the Snip and Owl on them can still be exchanged until 2032.
