Amsterdam Noord bus drivers on strike after robberies
Bus drivers in Amsterdam-Noord are striking on Friday morning because they feel unsafe after a series of robberies. According to transporter GVB, there will be no bus transport in Noord until at least 9:00 a.m.
On Monday night a bus driver was robbed by two men wearing clown masks on Volendammerweg. On January 13th another bus driver was robbed by a teenager with a shotgun on a GVB bus traveling between IJdoornlaan and Volendammerweg. A 15-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday in connection with this crime.

The bus drivers and the GVB works council will talk about the situation while they drivers aren't working. According to the company, the drivers feel unsafe and are afraid to do their job.
GVB wants to limit the amount of cash on buses as much as possible and therefore decided to stop selling day tickets on the bus, which are paid for in cash to the driver. Only 1-hour tickets will be available from now on.
