Dutchman confesses to involvement in Belgian castle murder
Franciscus "Roy" L. from Tilburg has admitted to being involved in the murder of castle lord Stijn Saelens in Wingene Belgium, Omroep Brabant reports based on reports in Belgian media.
According to statements made by L., he waited at the castle gate at the while his now deceased uncle Ron van Bommel killed Saelens. L. then helped hide the body.
On January 31st, 2012 Saelens' wife came home to a trail of blood and a bullet casing. There was no sign of her husband. Saelens' body was found in a nearby forest two weeks later.
According to Omroep Brabant, the Belgian Prosecutor would not comment on these reports.
L. was arrested in Amsterdam in February after his DNA sample matched traces found at the scene of the crime. He was extradited to Belgian two months later.
Another Dutchman was arrested on suspicion of involvement in this case earlier this month.
