Clients ditch ABN Amro, ING over executive salaries: Triodos bank chief
Triodos Bank is expected to benefit significantly from the social outcry that followed last week’s steep salary increases at ING and ABN Amro. a thousand new customers signed up with the bank last weekend, which is around five times the norm, a spokesman for Triodos told broadcaster NOS.
SNS Reaal subsidiary ASN Bank, like Triodos, claims an emphasis on fairness and sustainability. However, ASN has reported no visible changes in customer activity. Meanwhile, KNAB, a young online bank, said that the weekend was better than the preceding bank.
The spokesman for KNAB also named different potential reason for the switch, such as lowering interest rates by Rabobank. The spokesman for Rabobank, in turn, says no signals about customers switching from ING and ABN Amro were received.
ING said "a few dozen" customers closed their accounts. “Those have indicated why they were leaving mentioned the salaries scandal," their spokesman is quoted saying.
Banking watchdog Eerlijke Bankwijzer highly rates the bonus and salary policy at Triodos. The remuneration policy of ASN was nominated by them as mediocre, matching the rating of their parent, SNS Reaal.
