More trains on the tracks as new schedule begins
The new NS timetable took effect yesterday. The new schedule means that there will be a train every half an hour on all routes.
Two trains per hour is the new NS minimum standard. This was already the case on most routes. There will now be more trains on the routes Arnhem - Ede/Wageningen, Breda - Dordrecht, Roosendaal - Dordrecht and Heerlen - Sittard.
Trains at busy junctions in the Randstad will now drive until 01:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. This involves connections between the Randstad and surrounding cities such as Zwolle, Deventer and Arnhem.
With the new timetable there will also be trains to and from Schiphol every night. There will be more intercity trains between Amersfoort, Apeldoorn and Deventer. Sixteen trains will travel between Amsterdam and Brussels daily and there will be an additional train on the route Amsterdam - Berlin.
