Air France pilot strike worsens
More flight delays and cancellations are expected on French airports this week as the pilots' strike at the French airline escalate. KLM passengers may also be affected, De Telegraaf reports.
Pilots are on strike in Paris this week over contested labour conditions now that Air France-KLM is pushing Transavia to keep up in the budget airline market with competitors such as RyanAir.
Pilot unions and cabin personnel unions argue that Air France is violating previous agreements with the restructuring plans of daughter company Transavia.
Travelers have been warned of more delays on Tuesday, and maybe even cancellations on all flights on Wednesday. KLM passengers may also suffer under the effects of the strike, as transferring flights in Paris will become difficult.
"We are trying to transfer passengers to our partner airlines on other routes, but that isn't always possible", KLM boss Pieter Elbers said yesterday. He emphasizes that KLM does want to honor the agreements made with unions, De Telegraaf writes.
