Van Gogh Museum receives millionth visitor
The Van Gogh Museum has is received its millionth visitor for 2014. The lucky visitor, Mrs van Waveren from Zwaag, received a bouquet of sunflowers an a voucher for ten gallons of decorative paint after entering the museum.
As compared with recent years, more attendees are stopping by the Amsterdam museum, which is expecting the rate of visitors to keep rising. Last year saw a total of 1.4 million people pass through the museum's doors.
“So far, we have had a very successful year," said Adriaan Dönszelmann, Managing Director of the Van Gogh Museum. “More than 500,000 people visited the exhibition of Félix Vallotton: Fire beneath the Ice and The World of Van Gogh."
In the summer of 2015, the museum will open the doors of its new entrance, creating a link with the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum and the Koninklijk Concertgebouw. The new entrance is hoped to enable the museum to facilitate more visitors.
"We are extremely pleased with the overwhelming interest from national and international art lovers,” Dönszelmann said.
