Zwolle restaurant explodes, 10 displaced
An explosion forced a dozen occupants of an apartment complex on the 'Oude Vismarkt' in Zwolle out of their homes. Around 5:45 Monday morning an explosion blew out the façade of a 'shoarma' establishment on the ground floor. The explosion was followed up by a fire. The fire department quickly bested the fire, but the damage is considerable, according to a spokesperson for the fire department.
It is considered unsafe to stay in the homes above the destroyed establishment. The residents were initially taken to safety in a nearby clothing store, and later to the town hall. They will need to be sheltered for the remainder of the week. Remarkably, nobody got hurt. The cause of the explosion is still unknown. Part of the 'Oude Vismarkt' remain restricted for technical investigation and clean-up.
