Border Force officers estimate the street value of the drugs to be about £1.5 million (€1.8 million), writes the News Guardian. The arrest was made on December 7, and he was formally charged with importing Class A and Class B drugs ten days later.
“This was an excellent seizure by our officers and it has kept a large amount of harmful drugs off our streets," said Border Force assistant director Christine Brown.
After his initial court appearance, he was remanded until a follow-up court hearing on January 2.
"We will continue to work hard to keep our borders safe and crack down on drug smuggling,” Brown said.
