Divorce more complicated
A divorce will become a lot more complicated if the bill on the abolition of the standard marriage contract of VVD, PvdA and D66 is adopted, according to the Association of Family Lawyers and Divorce Mediators (vFAS).Now the income and debts are automatically distributed evenly in a divorce. In the new situation people will need to keep track of their possessions. The vFAS fears people, in practice, will end up with a tangled mess and will still be confronted with unpleasant surprises. If you keep good records, it's a good law, but many people don't, according to chairman Rob Coolwijk.
