Dutchman Quickest Biker On Earth
Sebastian Bowier broke the world record for biking, on a special recumbent bike, with a staggering 133.78 kilometers per hour.
The special, high-tech recumbent bike was a mutual project of the TU in Delft and the VU in Amsterdam. After a straight long track of 8km, the world record time was measured along a 200m track.
The team of students had to travel to Nevada, US, where usually the conditions for fast biking are OK. This time they were tortured by three days of rain after which their hopes on breaking the record were at a minimum. However, on the last day the weather was in their advantage and Bowier could break the world record.
