Meatballs removed from Ikea

IKEA wants to be sure they are not selling any horse meat-based products in Netherlands stores, and has taken precautionary measures after horse was found in meatballs at the furniture chain's Czech Republic stores.

Swedish Food Market, the small supermarket selling food within Ikea locations, removed meatballs from the stockrooms of stores in 14 European countries, according to the . The meatballs were also never served in Ikea restaurants. Czech authorities announced the discovery after conducting their own tests on the meat. Ikea claims their own DNA testing two weeks ago gave no indication of horse. Meatballs were also withdrawn from stores in Belgium, Cyprus, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain and the United Kingdom, the newspaper said.
